Aboard the Aurelia, a hand-picked crew of specialists fights not only against treacherous sabotage from Earth, but soon for their very survival:
Commander Peter Prendergast (British Commander & Tactical Lead): A disciplined, seasoned officer who commands the Aurelia with iron composure, yet is inwardly torn between his military duty to ensure humanity’s survival and his deep concern for his wife.
Dr Marta Prendergast (British Mission Director & Lead Astrophysicist): Peter’s wife and the scientific backbone of the expedition. Uncompromising and brilliant, she analyses the coherent magnetic fields, radiation patterns, and eerie quantum physics of the planet.
ECHO (Autonomous Mission AI): An adaptive artificial intelligence based on a neural singularity. As the digital heart of the Aurelia, it interfaces with the enigmatic frequencies of Kepler-452b – and begins to change inexorably.
Lt Sofia Alvarez (Mexican Chief Pilot & Propulsion Specialist): Nerves of steel, sharp-tongued, and fearless. She keeps the Aurelia and the lander on course even in the fiercest plasma storms and tames the unleashed forces of alien matter in the engine room.
Brandon Somerset (British Co-Pilot & Probe/Telemetry Specialist): A master of long-range sensor arrays, vector calculation, and inertial dampening, who is the first to realise that the planet is actively scanning the crew’s probes – and who salvages ECHO’s corrupted memory through hours of painstaking precision work.
Dr Helen Strauss (German Chief Medical Officer & Bioscientist): The incorruptible medical conscience of the crew. Cool, precise, and deeply sceptical, she monitors vital signs, analyses cellular contamination, and uncovers the lethal hazards of the alien environment.
Prof Malik Rahman (Dutch Atmospheric Scientist & Geochemist): An analytical thinker who dissects the planet’s mineralogical strata, thermodynamics, and enigmatic superconducting water (‘Anomaly 61’) down to the molecular level.
Dr Aiko Tanaka (Japanese Exobiologist): Empathetic and fearless, she seeks direct contact with the planet’s silicate-based flora and is the first to recognise that the alien biosphere reacts to the visitors like a single, interconnected consciousness.
Yuri Koval (Ukrainian Chief Geologist & Deep-Drilling Specialist): A grounded pragmatist with thirty years of field experience, who literally plunges into the depths whilst examining the planetary crust and experiences the monumental mechanism inside the world first-hand.
